Discover Kefir
What is kefir?
Kefir is a cultured, fermented pourable yoghurt that’s naturally rich in live probiotics. Ours is made from fresh Gippsland milk and has a tart, slightly effervescent, tongue-tingly taste - plus it’s bursting with billions of naturally occurring probiotics!
What are the health benefits of kefir?
Kefir is best known for supporting gut health, but its benefits go beyond digestion. Studies have linked regular consumption with improved immunity, reduced inflammation, better nutrient absorption, and even supporting mental wellbeing.
Is kefir more powerful than yoghurt?
Yes - kefir is a more potent source of probiotics and has a much more diverse range of cultures than standard yoghurt, which usually only contains one to two. Our kefir contains ten live culture strains, delivering over 90 billion gut-friendly bacteria per serve.
How is Table of Plenty kefir made?
Our kefir is crafted with a unique blend of ten probiotics and beneficial bacteria, slowly fermented with 100% fresh milk sourced from grass-fed Gippsland cows. This process creates a rich, creamy, tart, fermented kefir with a natural fizz - unlike probiotic capsules, our kefir is alive, fresh, and delicious.
Why do you use fresh grass-fed milk?
Because quality and ingredients matter. Grass-fed milk is a natural source of healthy fats and antioxidants, including ALA and omega-3s. Using only fresh milk (never milk powders, solids or water) ensures our kefir is wholesome, nourishing, and 100% natural.
What is kefir used for?
Kefir tastes great on its own, but it’s also versatile in the kitchen. Use it anywhere you’d use sour cream, buttermilk or yoghurt - pour it over cereal, blend it into smoothies, or add it to savoury dishes for a creamy finish. Enjoy it at breakfast, as a midday digestive boost, or even as a light, nourishing option before bed.
How often should you drink kefir?
Start slow and let your body adjust to all that probiotic goodness. A small glass daily - or a few times a week - is enough to help support your gut health.
Do I need to shake kefir before drinking?
Yes – our kefir keeps gently fermenting in the bottle, so the texture can change over time. Give it a good shake before opening to smooth it out. Like life, it can get a little lumpy if you don’t give it a shake first!
