Lets Talk Gut Health With Kate

“I have always been connected to my passion for creativity through my love of food and nutrition. I believe that being the best you can be can start from simply eating better. This is why we created Table of Plenty, to help others on their own journey to thriving, starting with easy to prepare, nourishing food.

As a mum and parent, being able to provide healthy and tasty food and nutrition for my family is equally as important. If you’re preparing food with the health of your family in mind, focusing on gut health is one of the best things you can do for their health and wellbeing. This is one of the main reasons, we created our Probiotic Kefir.”

What is the recommended daily intake of probiotics to maintain a healthy gut flora?

It is suggested that a good daily intake of at least 10 billion probiotics per day can assist in maintaining a healthy, happy gut flora. Realistically, the more the merrier!

Why make a Kefir?

As a mum and parent, being able to provide healthy and tasty food and nutrition for my family is really important. When preparing food with the health of my family in mind, I have always known that focusing on gut health is one of the best things you can do for their health and wellbeing.

This is one of the main reasons, we created our Probiotic Kefir. We believe that good food and nutrition should be accessible and affordable for everyone and our Kefir is a perfect example of that – a daily dose probiotics in its most natural form made from real 100% grass-fed, Gippsland milk.

And, what is Kefir again?

A cultured, fermented pourable yoghurt that is literally bursting with billions of naturally occurring probiotics. Our kefir is made from fresh Gippsland milk and has a tart, tongue-tingling taste to it (if you’re feeling a little more adventurous we also created Mango and Blueberry flavours for you to enjoy as well!).

Is kefir a more powerful probiotic than yoghurt?

Kefir is a more potent source of probiotics and has a more diverse range of cultures than many other yoghurts, which usually only have two to three cultures present.

How can you benefit from consuming kefir?’

There are many different benefits above and beyond good gut health from consuming Kefir on a daily basis. It not only can improve digestive function and support healthy digestion, but has been linked to boosting immunity, supporting detoxification, healing inflammatory bowel disease, fighting allergies, lowering blood pressure and assisting in people’s wellbeing and mental health.

What’s in Kefir?

Our kefir is lovingly made from fresh milk sourced directly from grass fed cows in Gippsland, Victoria. True to our philosophy of minimal processing, our Kefir contains no milk powders, only naturally occurring sugars, no artificial colours or flavours and is hormone free. Our Mango and Blueberry flavours are of course made with REAL fruit.

What are the benefits of fresh grass-fed milk?
We always strive to create tasty, trustworthy products with wholesome ingredients and our Kefir is no exception to that! By using fresh grass-fed milk, it is a better source of healthy fats and antioxidants, high in ALA’s and omega-3’s. Our Kefir is 100% natural and does not contain any milk powders.

Can those who are lactose intolerant consume kefir?

Research suggests that Kefir is generally well tolerated by those who are lactose intolerant. Of course, like all food and products this is dependent on the individual and we suggest starting off with small amounts to see how your body reacts.

How often should you consume it?

It’s a good idea to slowly introduce Kefir into your diet so your body can adjust to this new-found goodness! A small glass daily or a few times a week will definitely help to improve your overall gut health. We have created a 1kg bottle for those who like to enjoy their Kefir at home and can store it in the fridge and 148mg bottles for on the go!

Where does it fit in my diet or food plan? For breakfast?

Whenever you like. It’s actually perfect for any time of the day – add it to your breakfast smoothie, enjoy it after lunch as a digestive aid or at night as a delicious and nutritious option before bed. Many people choose to substitute their morning milk or yoghurt on their muesli with Kefir, which is a super tasty alternative – not to mention the health benefits that come with it!

Do I need to shake it before consuming?

Our Kefir keeps fermenting in the bottle as it is a live product, so it consistently changes over time. Before you open it, it’s a good idea to give the bottle a good shake to even out the consistency. If you’re enjoying our 148mg bottles with Blueberry and Mango, turn the bottle upside down and shake it side to side to mix the fruit into the Kefir!

Where can you buy it?

Our Kefir is available in the milk aisle at Coles in Victoria and NSW.
